in Project Management, Block Release
The Masters in Project Management accredited by the University of Limerick is the result of a detailed review of both industry requirement and academic research. Developed and supported by a team of up to 25 specialists, both academic and industrial, it combines a unique blend of 'core' project management and general management modules.Masters : Block Release
The course consists of taught modules and significant individual research.
The taught module consist of formal class sessions, tutorials and controlled self-study.
Where possible, the research is carried out in a project management related subject of the student's own choice.
Aims and ObjectivesThe overall aim of the Masters programme is to satisfy an identified educational need of managers and executives.
Specific objectives:
· To provide career-minded graduates and professionals with the opportunity to obtain the underlying theory and associated skills necessary for instituting change within their organisations;
· To equip participants with the skills necessary for the successful management of project driven organisations;
· To provide managers of business and industry with an educational opportunity in a very relevant management proces.Masters Course StructureFormal class sessions and tutorials will be delivered through block release on weekdays and on Saturdays. Approx 50 working days (Monday -Friday) will be utilised during the course.Residential School
In the first semester of the programme participants will be expected to attend a Residential School. The purpose of the school is to consolidate the learning experience to date, develop team-based and leadership skills. In addition, some specialist tutorials are generally delivered at this school and some assignment work is also completed.
DissertationStarting in the second semester of the year 1 and during year 2 of the course the students will be expected to undertake a research project and submit a dissertation.
This is a major element of the programme and specialised supervisors are assigned to each student depending in the topic that is being researched. Specific sessions to discuss and clarify the approachand methodology is timetabled at the beginning on the 2nd year.ExaminationsExaminations are held at the end of each semester; to take place at the University.AssessmentThe overall result will depend on marks awarded for the assignment work, end of semester examinations and the dissertation.Module Content· Fundamentals of Project Management

ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS· Normally a primary degree with first or second class honours. Candidates with a pass degree, or an approved professional qualification, along with exceptional working experience, will also be considered.
· At least 4 years experience at supervisory level or above, preferably gained after the degree or professional qualification. Mature candidates who gained their experience before the required qualifications will be eligible. In the case of candidates without honours, 5 years experience will be required.
· A satisfactory interview with the course selection panel.
· Subject to the discretion of the interview panel, a candidate with an acceptable grade in the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) will be considered.
